About Me

I was born and grew up in Seoul, Korea, and moved to Los Angeles with my family at the age of 19. I obtained all my degrees from the UCLA Computer Science department. During 2000-01, I worked at Aplus Design Technologies, which later became a part of Synopsys, Inc.. In 2001, I moved to Atlanta to join the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech.

SHORT BIO
Sung Kyu Lim is a Professor of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. He received Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000. His research focus is on the architecture, design, test, and EDA solutions for 3D ICs. His research is featured as Research Highlight in the Communication of the ACM in January, 2014. Dr. Lim received the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2006. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems (TCAD). He received the Best Paper Award from ATS'12 and IITC'14 and nominated for the Best Paper Award DAC'11, DAC'12, DAC'14, and other premier conferences in EDA and circuit design. He received the Class of 1940 Course Survey Teaching Effectiveness Award in 2016 and 2018.
